Margaret C. (Briggs) Klingenburg, 83 ASHBURNHAM — Margaret C. (Briggs) Klingenburg, 83, of 8 Fitchburg Road, died Saturday, May 21, 2005 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Fitchburg, Aug, 3, 1921, the daughter John R. and Etta F. (Fillebrown) Briggs and lived in Ashburnham most of her life. She graduated from Cushing Academy in 1938 and the Burbank Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She worked at Burbank Hospital as a nurse for Werner Backman, D.M.D. in Fitchburg. She retired 34 years ago. She was a volunteer for Burbank Hospital for many years. She achieved the highest honor awarded to the Girl Scouts of America. She was also a Cub Scout den mother, and was a past officer of the Ashburnham Forever Young Club. She was a member of the Ashburnham Community Church. She leaves her husband of 58 years, Raymond W. Klingenburg. They were married May 31, 1947. She leaves a son, Kent W. and his wife Pamela Klingenburg, of Ashburnham; a daughter, Dale M. Flathers, of Fitchburg; two brothers, her twin John Briggs, of Cicero, N.Y. and Richard Briggs, of Beverly, Mass.; one sister, Dora Nelson, of Hadley, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Amy Flather,s of Leominster, Lindsay Flathers, of Fitchburg, Joshua and Timothy Kingenburg, of Ashburnham and 3rd Class Petty Officer Jonathan Klingenburg, U.S. Navy; one great-granddaughter Emily Flathers, of Leominster. She is predeceased by a sister, Emily Bezenson, who died in 1973 and a brother, Channing Briggs, who died May 17, 2005. |
