Democratic town committee to meet Aug. 2

The Westminster Democratic Town Committee will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center, 127 Main St. (American Legion Hall).

The agenda will begin with the election of four delegates to attend the Senate District Conference on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. at the Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg.

For an individual to be eligible to be a delegate, he or she must be an enrolled Democrat residing in Westminster. The conference is being held to elect a new member of the

Democratic State Committee. The candidates are Jennifer Benson, of Lunenburg, Kathleen Reynolds Daigneault, of Leominster and Susan Medaglia, of Townsend.

The Democratic State Committee is the main body of the Democratic Party of Massachusetts. The committee's members run the state conventions, elect the paid party officials and chair the party's subcommittees.

Westminster DTC members will also discuss the committee's leadership and any other business that comes before the committee.

Following the business meeting, the Westminster DTC will host a meet-and-greet with candidates in several local races, including the Democratic State Committee, district attorney and state representative.
