Scouts earn outdoor merit badges

Boy Scout Troop 18 had a successful week at Camp Wanocksett in Jaffrey, N.H. as scouts earned a number of merit badges.

For their first year at camp, Toby Steppart and Noah Smith earned their swimming merit badge. Smith also earned the fingerprinting and sculpture merit badges.

Cody Fowler earned the sculpture, fingerprinting and woodcarving merit badges. The three above scouts also earned very many requirements toward second class and first class scout.

Nathan and Jason Evancic earned the environmental science merit badge and Jason also earned the motor boating and athletics merit badges. Jacob Comeau earned the same merit badges as Jason.

Sean Horgan earned the environmental science merit badge. Ryan O'Hare earned the rifle shooting and canoeing merit badges and Jeremy LeBlanc earned the small boat sailing merit badge.

Camp Wanocksett runs eight weeks of summer camp and Troop 18 went the week of July 9. The individual troops stay in their own site at night and go to individual activities during the daytime.

Dennis Cormier and Tom Marks stayed the week as chaperons as did Greg Snyder, James Lang and Ashley Blood, who each chaperoned at least one night during the week.
