In brief Methodist Church holds vacation bible school The Townsend United Methodist Church is hosting a Vacation Bible School Monday, Aug. 7, through Friday, Aug. 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The curriculum has an archaeological theme and is called "Adventure of the Treasure Seekers." The Bible stories invite your children to become part of each adventure. The discovery theme decorations, activities, crafts, skits, games, music, and snacks are all part of the week-long program. A special "guest" performer on the puppet stage will be Professor Who. Townsend United Methodist Church is located at 265 Main Street in Townsend. It is the "Meetinghouse Church on the Hill" at the corner of Rts. 13 and 119. The VBS is open to all children of the area ages 4 -12. The cost is $5 for the entire week. Come to Vacation Bible School this summer and join us at the "Adventure of the Treasure Seekers," where every day the children will embark on daily 'discovery digs.' There are still openings in VBS. United Methodist joint worship services Townsend and Pepperell United Methodist Churches joint summer worship will be at the Pepperell Church. Pepperell's Lawrence Memorial United Methodist Church summer Sunday worship schedule will be 10 a.m. for the month of August through September 3. The Townsend UMC members will travel to Pepperell and worship jointly at the 10 a.m. service. The Pepperell United Methodist Church is located on Chapel Hill, off Main Street, just one block in from Dunkin' Donuts. Everyone from the wider community is invited to worship in Christian fellowship. Rev. Joan-Anne Westfall is the pastor for both Townsend and Pepperell churches. To reach the pastor or for further information please call (978) 433-2185. Trip to Mohegan Sun The Friends of the Townsend Seniors are sponsoring a Trip to the Mohegan Sun, Thursday Aug. 24. Cost is $25 a person. Limited seats. Bus will leave the Townsend Senior Center parking lot at 8:30 a.m. sharp and return at about 5:30 p.m. For reservations, contact Connie Giles (978) 5975420 or Avis Roy (978) 597-6829.
