Summer Theater on Townsend Common

Have you been seeing a lot of action on the common on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings?

Students are practicing for Townsend's first ever summer theater production, sponsored by Townsend Recreation, from funds that were generously donated by Janet Simopoulos, from her Entertainment Fund fund-raiser from a couple years ago.

"What Women Want Most", will be presented on the common (rain location is the town hall), on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 7 p.m. This is a free performance with refreshments being for sale. The director is Amy Albro, a Townsend summer recreation counselor, with Gerard Schell as stage manager. The cast includes Sarah Berman, Katherine Bogue, Theresa Chernosky, Hannah French, Margaret French, Paul Garafola, Travis Maider and Gwen Morgan. The crew includes Lisa Berman, Catie Meehan and Jared Walsh.

King Arthur has a ticklish problem. One of his best knights, Sir Harold Pendragon, is guilty of the heinous crime of stealing a kiss from a noble maiden and the penalty is death. Queen Guenivere asks that the knight be placed in her power. Guenivere tells Sir Harold that if he can correctly answer her question, "What Women want most?", he may go free. There's a surprise conclusion!

Please come and support this new adventure! The show runs about 45 minutes. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Questions-call Karen Clement (978) 597-5914 or clem6six@verizon.net
