Yankee Street Fair is fast approaching

Annual Yankee Street Fair organizers. Tickets for the barbecue are limited; reservations may be made in advance by calling the church at (978) 874-5790. - Submitted Photo
The fair will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the grounds of the First Congregational Church at 138 Main St. in Westminster.

The fair will feature a Harvest Booth, baked goods, thrift shop and bargain booth, book booth, a ticket auction of new items, and games and festivities for young and old.

A special feature of this year's air will be animals from the Heifer Farm, in Rutland. Every year the Yankee Street Fair donates 10 percent of its proceeds to a worthy cause in the community, and this year the Heifer project was chosen as the recipient because of the fire that destroyed the farm's barn this past year.

The fair will have food available all day in the food court - hot dogs, hamburgers,

sausage, kapusta, corn chowder, pizza and the ever-popular strawberry shortcake. Freshly squeezed lemonade and iced coffee and tea will be new this year. The chicken barbecue will be held at 5 p.m. under the tents; takeout is available.

Tickets for the barbecue are limited; reservations may be made in advance by calling the church at (978) 874-5790.

Several local musical groups will entertain visitors throughout the day, including Dr. B's Good Medicine Band.

The Worcester Tornadoes mascot - Twister - will make a presence. Representatives from the bone marrow organization will also be present for those people interested in registering for this life-giving opportunity.

Donations are being accepted at the church for the bargain booth, thrift Shop, and the ticket auction.
