Friends of Willard Brook events
Hike through Townsend State Forest

Saturday, Aug. 19, 10 a.m. Hike through Townsend State Forest with Paul Sebring. Heading north and west, we will cross Burgess and Barker Hill Roads following trails on state land. Some bushwacking will be necessary. Hike will lead to a geologically interesting cluster of large glacial boulders. Wear sturdy hiking boots. Bring water and a snack. Walk n' Talk with Nashua River Rail Trail Committee

Join the Nashua River Rail Trail Committee on their final walk in a series, Saturday, Aug. 19, at 9 a.m., to explore the length of the rail trail by foot. This is a chance to casually discuss ideas and issues, and get to know your neighbors. Meet at the kiosk at the rail trail parking lot in Pepperell. Sneakers and water suggested. Hike in Willard Brook State Forest

Sunday, Aug. 20, 9-11 a.m. Hike in Willard Brook State Forest with Alan Ewald, Ashby resident, president of Ashby Land Trust, and member of Friends of Willard Brook. Meet at the dead-end of Fort Hill Road in Ashby. The hike will be a loop including a part of the Friends trail and a transit of the Joseph property added to Willard Brook State Forest in June. The hike will be earlier in the day to try and beat the heat. Dogs are welcome if they can be leashed. Call Alan for more information at (978) 386-2269.
