'Illusion' places first in Battle of the Bands
Illusion, a three-member band that plays a variety of rock styles, won a photo promotional package as well as a $200 gift certificate to Daddy's Junkie Music in the contest sponsored by the Townsend Business Association (TBA). The classic rock and psychedelic rock band includes singer and guitarist Dan Sitar, 14, drummer Ryan Cullen, 14, and bassist Scott Shehan, 16. The judges named rock and roll band "The Outside Inn" as the second place band. Bassist Nick Paolilli, 17, signer Tony Marciello, 17, guitarists John Paolilli, 19, and Dan Jordan, 18, and drummer Andy Sepe, 18, won a $150 gift certificate. The third place band, the "Greg Greg Project" including drummer Nathan Watt, 15, guitarist Justin Kimbal, 15, and bassist Greg Clement, 15, won a $100 gift certificate. Two other bands performed for the nearly 200 person audience on the common. "Eternal Revolt" stared drummer Jason Staples, 18, bassist John Baxter, 20, and guitarist Kevin Guilmette, 18.
The judges were TBA board member, Michelle Goodwin, of Michelle Goodwin's School of Dance, Aaron Arsenault, of The Messenger, Alan St. Criox, of Alan's Photograph, and Nick and Brandon Lockyer, formerly of the band "All In". Nick and Brandon Lockyer arranged the sound equipment for this event and were the opening act of the day. As MC for the event, Cal Robbins, of C.S. Robbins Maintenance, and the past-president of the TBA organized the event. Many members of the association provided and served the food to those at the event. The TBA has expressed the gratitude of its members to Police Chief Erving Marshall for agreeing to split the cost of police detail between his community fund budget and the TBA. - Submitted to The Journal |
