District ready to welcome students

Students will notice changes around the middle school and high school.

Over the summer lights have been added to the roadway leading to the two schools and work has begun on the track as the first part of the three-stage athletic field, track and parking lot renovation project.

Overlook students will also welcome a new principal - Brenda Houle - as she replaces Michael Sunderland, who retired this summer. Houle was the assistant principal at Birchland Park Middle School in East Longmeadow.

Superintendent Michael Zapantis says the schools were in great shape for the beginning of the up-coming school year thanks to the hard work of all the custodial staff.

He said everyone is ready for the start of classes start on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
