'With deep regret we bid farewell'

To the Editor:

We, the Trustees of the Forbush Memorial Library, express our heartfelt thanks to Charlene Churchill, FML Director since March 2006.

During her stay, Charlene showed exemplary ability to take charge and show initiative, give attention to detail, and follow through on top priorities. She demonstrated excellent ability to work well with the board members and make good decisions. Her willingness to take on the position of director in the wake of previous turmoil exceeded all expectations as she performed her duties in a most professional manner.

In December 2005, a search committee had been formalized to hire the current director. This group consisted of five community members, which included one Forbush Memorial Library employee. We, the trustees, commend them for their excellent judgment when they recommended Ms. Churchill for hire.

With deep regret we bid farewell to Charlene and wish her none less than the very best as she returns to Maine and begins her new position as director of the Ellsworth Public Library. Knowing that she will be a valuable asset to the community there, we are sorry to see her go.
