TOWNSEND TEO summer penny drive almost over Have you heard of TEO? TEO stands for Townsend Ecumenical Outreach. It grew out of the need to reach out to members of the Townsend community through its affiliated churches. Through TEO there is a network that offers residents help and aid in an emergency. One of the ways the Townsend community responds to TEO fund-raising efforts is through the annual summer penny drive. Please be generous when you see the canisters at most Townsend businesses. Your small change or dollars will make a big difference to someone in need. For more information about TEO, the monthly food bank, and the 'Clothes Closet' please call (978) 597-2209. If you prefer, you may mail a donation of money to: TEO, 82 Bayberry Hill Road, West Townsend, MA 01474. Give blood, get music festival tickets The American Red Cross will give out a pair of free tickets to the MusicFest or BlueFest at Wachusett Mountain Ski Area during the upcoming blood drive. The Red Cross will hold a blood drive in Townsend, on Friday, Sept. 1, at the Townsend Congregational Church, 5 Brookline St., (across from common). The drive will run from 12 to 6 p.m., and will be open to the public. Each presenting donor will receive a pair of tickets to the MusicFest or BluesFest, on Saturday, Sept. 9 or Sunday, Sept. 10, at Wachusett Mountain Ski Area. Anyone that is 17-or older, who is in good health, who weighs 110-pounds or more and who has not given blood in the last 56 days may try to donate. The American Red Cross requires a positive ID before donating. For more information or to make an appointment for any Red Cross blood drive, please call 1-800GIVE-LIFE (800-448-3543).
