Helen M 'Nellie' Mancuso, 88

WESTMINSTER - Helen M. 'Nellie"(Waskewicz) Mancuso, 88, of 156 Mt. Vernon Street, Fitchburg, died at her home Aug. 28, 2006 morning after an illness.

She was the wife of the late Nicholas J. Mancuso who died in 1990.

She leaves one daughter and son-in-law, Lillian H. (Mancuso), and Richard E. Fortin of Fitchburg, three grandchildren Michael J. Fortin of Westminster, Deborah (Fortin) Takehara of Chicago, Ill., and William E. Fortin of Gardner, four great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, one great-great-grandson, and one great-great-granddaughter, one brother Joseph Waskewicz of Fitchburg, two sisters Anna Descarreaux of Fitchburg, and Josephine Bouvier of Lunenburg. She is predeceased by a grandson Robert E. Fortin in 1971, and two brothers Walter Waskewicz and Alex Waskewicz.

She was born in Fitchburg on March 12, 1918, a daughter of the late Alex and Domecila (Kamblavich) Waskewicz. She was educated in Fitchburg Schools and help to raise her siblings after her mother's death. She worked for the former Asher Pants Company for many years as a stitcher. She loved her grandchildren and taking them to York Beach in Maine during the summers.
