Keefe gets Frances R. Jenkins, Fritz M. Hafner scholarship
He graduated this spring from the North Central Charter Essential School and will be attending the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, where he will focus on photography. The scholarship is for $750. "The Frances R. Jenkins and Fritz M. Hafner Scholarship is the only award of its kind in the museum, and it is crucial to encourage young artists in the area," said Museum Director Peter Timms. "Art is my passion," explained Keefe. "I have been drawing ever since I was old enough to hold a crayon. However, it wasn't until I was 9 that I started to realize my passion for art." He took drawing lessons from Mary Durkee and also won awards while he was a student at the Museum Partnership School. His work has appeared in The Community Journal and he was also a yearbook photographer. - Submitted to The Journal |
