In Brief Child Passenger Safety checkpoint scheduled Ashburnham Police Officer Nicholas Dalton, the department's Child Passenger Safety Technician, has scheduled a checkpoint for Saturday, Sept. 30, at the town field, on Williams Road. Dalton will be available to teach parents, by appointment only, how to properly restrain children in motor vehicles and offer examples of diligent safety practices. The Ashburnham Police Department looks forward to being able to serve as a community resource in the critical area of child passenger safety. He works from 3-11 p.m. Kick off the fall with KidsFest The16th Annual KidsFest will be held Wachusett Mountain Ski Area in Princeton September 23 and 24 (rain or shine), 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission: adults are $7 in advance, $9 at the door; children (ages 6-12) are $4 in advance, $5 at the door; children (ages 3-5) are $3, and children under 3 are free. This year's presenting sponsor, Price Chopper will have 20 of their food vendors giving away free samples. There will also be 40 local businesses on hand with interactive activities for the kids. Take a tethered hot air balloon ride (weather permitting), listen to local pop stars Girl Authority, and test your slap shot with the Worcester Sharks and "FINZ." Also, check out the dazzling stunts by the Northeast Trickstars, the finals of KidStar '06, and the exotic animals of Animal Adventures.The classics will still be a part of KidsFest including: moonbounces, jugglers, clowns, face painting, balloon artists, hayrides with story teller Katie Green, climbing wall, bungee trampolines, laser tag, Rainbow Play Systems Swing Set, and more.
