Celtic Duo to appear at Flying Irish Studio
Guitarist Flynn Cohen and vocalist Liz Simmons will perform Celtic and other acoustic music on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the Flying Irish Studio in Ashby.
Cohen is a noted acoustic guitarist who has been called "a versatile string virtuoso" by "Dirty Linen" magazine.
He toured and recorded with Irish accordion star John Whelan for five years and has also performed with Irish singer Aoife Clancy, John McGann, Jake & Taylor Armerding, Mark Simos, Footworks, Halali, and Boston City Limits. He specializes in Bluegrass and Irish traditional music and teaches mandolin in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Simmons grew up in a musical New
Hampshire family and has a strong background in Irish and American folk singing styles. The renowned Irish vocalist Karan Casey has said, "When I first heard Liz sing, I was deeply struck by the beauty of her voice."
Tickets are $8 per person. Families welcome, please no street shoes inside the studio.
