Leadership changes for The Community Journal

Caitlyn Kelleher
Editorial leadership of The Community Journal changed this week, with the promotion of Caitlyn Kelleher to News Editor. Kelleher was the Assistant Editor of the paper since February. Also, Jim Keogh will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief and Cheryl Cuddahy will become the paper's Community Editor.

Kelleher will continue to report on issues affecting Ashburnham, Ashby, Westminster and Townsend and will assume the role of editorial direction and overall news coverage for The Community Journal along with Keogh and a growing list of experienced area writers. Kelleher is a former reporter for the Sentinel & Enterprise of Fitchburg.

Keogh has won numerous national and regional journalism awards for his work as Editor of The Landmark, leadership responsibilities for the Holden Landmark Corp. in the past year, lending his deep knowledge of Central Massachusetts and well respected editorial judgment to the entire company.

Cuddahy joined the Holden Landmark Corp. last month in a new role as Community Editor, greatly improving the gathering and publishing of community news briefs, calendar announcements and people news. Cuddahy previously worked for the Sentinel & Enterprise in a very similar role.

Former Editor Kevin MacLean left The Community Journal this week to pursue other interests. He is one of three people to receive a 2006 Fellowship Award from "Community Builders," a partnership between the United Way of North Central Massachusetts and Mount Wachusett Community College. Fellowships are awards to people who have creative ideas about how to get others involved to build stronger people and places in North Central Massachusetts. Community Builders' mission is to educate, inform and inspire greater community involvement through new and innovative strategies. MacLean offers free emergency and minor safety-related home repairs to seniors in need.

"I'm thrilled to have such an experienced group of journalists lead The Community Journal forward," said Publisher Gareth Charter. "We have solid news gathering and judgment matched with first-rate outreach to our towns' many groups, clubs and organizations."

Readers are encouraged to contact Kelleher with news tips, questions or comments at (978) 827-3386 or e-mailed to cjnewspaper@aol.com.

Press releases, people news (such as engagements or weddings) and calendar items can be faxed to Cuddahy's attention at (978) 827-3200 or e-mailed to cjnewsdesk@aol.com.
