Registration available for upcoming Babysitter's Training Course

The American Red Cross of North Central Massachusetts will host a Babysitter's Training Course from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday Sept. 23, in Room 2 of Memorial Hall.

This course teaches youth ages 11 and older the responsibilities and qualities of being a good babysitter, in addition to what is expected from the person who hires them, and the best ways to be safe and keep children in their care safe. Fee is $42 per student.

Toddler storytimes to be held at library

The Townsend Public Library will hold toddler storytimes Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., beginning Sept. 26 through Oct. 31, in Room 1 of Memorial Hall. Appropriate for children ages 2 to 4 years old and their siblings. For more information, call the library at (978) 597-1714.

Townsend 275th Anniversary Committee seeking donations from community

The Townsend 275th Anniversary Committee is hard at work planning the Townsend Old Home Days scheduled to be held Saturday, Sept. 30 and is seeking help from the community.

The committee is seeking sponsors to advertise in the bulletin which will be handed out throughout the fair. The cost of the advertisement is $15 for business card size; $20 for quarter page. Please send money and business card or logo to Townsend 275th Anniversary, c/o Townsend Old Home Days Fair, P.O. Box 115, Townsend MA 01469. Also, any business that would be interested in donating a product, gift certificate, or service to be raffled at the Townsend Old Home Days is asked to contact Paul Bergeron at (877) 204-7138 or Tubby Boucher at (978) 5978876. Proceeds of the raffle will benefit the 275th Anniversary. Donations may be picked up or dropped off at the Town Common on Sept. 30, at 10 a.m.

Do you have old knick-knacks, dishes, or items you no longer want? Why not donate them to "Grand Ma's Attic", with proceeds to benefit the 275th Anniversary. There will be a large trailer at the common for all donations on Sunday, Sept. 24 and Friday, Sept. 29 from 8 a.m. to noon. Please no large appliances, air conditioners, gasoline items, large furniture, and by all means no flammables, combustibles, or corrosives. Vendors/crafters sought for flea market

The Townsend Business Association will hold its first annual flea market, to be held on the Townsend Common, Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (setup and breakdown before and after). Rain date is Sunday, Oct. 15, from 1 to 5 p.m. (setup and breakdown before and after). Booths are available for $25 ($5 to Parks and Cemetery and $20 towards scholarship). Crafters are welcome along with any town organization (ie: bake table). Food vendors will be on hand. Space must be reserved/pre-paid by Saturday, Oct. 7. Please send checks payable to: TBA, P.O. Public Library to hold quilt raffle

Get your chance to win a wonderful quilt! Tickets may be purchased for $1 each or six for $5. In addition to being available at the Townsend Public Library, tickets may be purchased at special demonstrations at selected locations. The drawing will be held on April 21, 2007. This machine-pieced, hand quilted friendship sampler was created as a fund raiser for the Friends of the Townsend Public Library by the "Quiltteas": Lucille Forest, Beverly Johnson, Joan Landry, Mae Larson, Lillian Martin, Nancy Martin, and Irene Nicholson.
