FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 29

Other  CenterStage at Fitchburg State College presents a Cambodian story told through a New England puppetry group. "The Story of the Dog" will be performed at 7 p.m. in Weston Auditorium, by the Sandglass Theater of Putney, Vt. A spotlight talk with artistic directors Eric Bass and Mann Kosal will be held at 6:15 p.m. A matinee will be presented at 10 a.m. in Weston Auditorium. SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 30

Townsend  Ready..Set...Crop's "Back to School Crop" will take place from 9 a.m. to midnight at the Townsend Methodist Church. A $40 registration includes continental breakfast, full lunch and dinner, snacks and beverages, four feet of personal crafting space, free use of our stamping and die cut stations and hourly door prizes. There will be free goodies for everyone on-site. Other  Kick off the Fall season with a day on the Nashua River Rail Trail Day. Free programs will be offered in Ayer, Groton, Pepperell and Dunstable and are co-sponsered by the Friends of Willard Brook and the Department of Conservation and Recreation. A list of events include: in the Ayer lot - 11 to 11:30 a.m. Rail Trail safety and children's coloring activity, noon to 2:30 p.m. adaptive bicycle demonstration, 1:30 to 2 p.m., Smokey the Bear visits, and 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. Trees of the Trail; on Station Avenue, Groton - 11 to 11:30 a.m. Railroad History of the NRRT, 1 to 1:15 p.m. Smokey the Bear visits, 2 to 2:30 p.m. Railroad History of the NRRT; on Sand Hill Road, Groton - 9 to 10:30 a.m. Nature Walk; 12:30 to 12:45 p.m. Smokey the Bear visits, and 1 to 1:30 p.m. Rail Trail safety and children's coloring activity; in East Pepperell - noon to 12:20 p.m. Smokey the Bear visits and 2 to 2:30 p.m. Rail Trail safety and children's coloring activity; in the Dunstable lot - 11:30 a.m. to noon Rail Trail safety and children's coloring activity, and 1 to 1:45 p.m. Trees of the Trail. MONDAY - OCTOBER 2

Westminster  The Westminster Woman's Club will hold its first monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Forbush Memorial Library, 118 Main St. Helen Berkio, director of Rehabilitation Services and director of the Stroke Center at HealthAlliance Hospital, will talk on how to recognize and respond to a stroke. TUESDAY - OCTOBER 3

WEDNESDAY - OCTOBER 4

Other  Nashoba Valley Technical High School, located at 100 Littleton Road (Route 110), Westford, will hold its annual Parents Night from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Parents are welcome to visit their child's classroom and meet with teachers throughout the night. At 7 p.m., there will be an MCAS information seminar in the library. At 7:30 p.m., the school will present information on career plans and colleges.

SATURDAY - OCTOBER 7

Ashburnham  The Ashburnham Historical Society will sponsor its Fall Barn Tour from 9 a.m. to noon, beginning at The Meeting House, 79 Main St. This is a free family event. For more information, call (978) 827-9908.

Westminster  The Friends of the Senior Center will hold a fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Westminster Senior Center, upstairs from the American Legion Hall, 127 Main St. The fair will feature crafts, baked goods, and a Chinese auction table. SUNDAY - OCTOBER 8

Other  Mestizo Manta, a Peruvian folk music ensemble, will perform at 2:30 p.m. at the Fitchburg Public Library, 610 Main St. They will perform traditional Indian music of Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Columbia, and other countries of the Andes region of South America.  The Townsend Public Library is holding a Book Discussion Group at 7 p.m. in Room 1 of Memorial Hall. The group, open to adults, will be reading and talking about "St. Albans Fire" by Archer Mayor.
