Ann F. (Corey) Munroe, 67 Was active member of St. Denis Parish
She was born on July 27, 1939, in South Boston, the daughter of the late Anna and Daniel Corey and was raised in Rindge, N.H. She graduated from Our Lady of Monadnock Academy in Jaffrey, NH in 1957 and then attended Boston Dispensary School of Medical Laboratory Technology, working as a phlebotomist at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, N.H. She was married to John Ernest Munroe on November 14, 1964 and then moved to Ashburnham where she and her husband have resided the past 42 years. Mrs. Munroe later worked at other positions including Leominster Hospital as a Medical Assistant and at the Assessors Office in Ashburnham for 21 years. She was an active member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Ashburnham, volunteering as a lector and fundraiser and member of the choir. She was a member of the Clio Women's Club and served as President of the St. Denis Guild. She also taught CCD Classes, at St. Denis. She was very politically active, serving as a member of the Ashburnham Democratic Town Committee, holding positions as both secretary and treasurer. She worked as an election officer and clerk for several years and was a member at large to Friends of the Stevens Library in Ashburnham. Mrs. Munroe enjoyed many activities including gardening, tennis, traveling, jogging, friends and family. She actively participated for several years in the Relay For Life to raise public awareness and research funding for breast cancer. She is survived by her husband John Munroe; two daughters, Cory Gracie and Lori Munroe, both of Ashburnham; two sons, Daniel Munroe of Denver, Colo. and Matthew Munroe of Ashburnham; three grandsons, Nicholas Gracie, Nathaniel Gracie, and Kyle Munroe; one sister, Helen Champney of Rindge, N.H.; and various other family members. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Skip of California; and her sister, Veronica of Jaffrey, N.H. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Oncology Clinic at Burbank Hospital, 275 Nichols Road, Fitchburg, MA 01420 . The Lamoureux-Fletcher Community Funeral directed arrangements. |
