Special town meeting held this weekend

Residents will have the chance to vote on seven money related articles at a special town meeting on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 9:30 a.m.

Town officials are hoping to the need 50 people to attend the meeting.

Town officials are looking at transferring $33,830.20 from the additional state aid the town received this year into the police wages accounts overtime and other police salary issues.

They are also want voters to use some of the additional state aid money - $14,760 - to help cover the additional salary of the chief.

Town officials are also hoping to get permission from voters to transfer money from the group health insurance account, which has extra funds, into a variety of accounts to additional legal counsel costs and emergency management expenses.

The town is going to ask voters to transfer $13,150.80 for legal services and $606.65 to pay for base radio antenna.

The finance committee has recommended all of the pending articles.

Two smaller transfers are also being requested: one is $364.80 to cover prior year bills and $750 to cover an assistant tax collector's wages.
