Tore Dag Tonnessen, 60 Was foreign language teacher; loved music

WESTMINSTER - Tore Dag Tonnessen, 60, of 12 Merriam Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at home with his beloved wife of 35 years, Diane Elizabeth Evirs, at his side. Tore had been valiantly fighting pancreatic cancer for 19 months, contributing to medical history.

Born in Norway, Mr. Tonnessen is survived and sadly missed by his parents, Torleiv and Aasta Tonnessen of Arendal, Norway.

After serving in the Royal Norwegian Air Force, he moved to the United States to become an airline pilot. Shortly thereafter, his heart led him to the University of Massachusetts to become a foreign language teacher; his last teaching position was Turkey Hill Middle School in Lunenburg. Another passion of Tore was music; his knowledge of music was encyclopedic to all who knew him.

The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes directed arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to: The Senor T. Spanish Award, c/o Keith Hochstein, Principal, Turkey Hill Middle School, 129 Northfield Road, Lunenburg, MA 01462.
