Mary Damon, 80 ASHBY - Mary A. Damon, 80, of 195 Ash St., Gardner, formerly a longtime resident of Ashby, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, in Heywood Hospital Gardner. She was born June 20, 1926, in Fitchburg, the daughter of Howard F. and Helen M. (Hall) Damon. She retired several years ago from the Fitchburg Paper Co. where she had worked for 37 years. She was a 1944 graduate of Ashby High School, was a member of the Ashby Congregational Church, a charter member and honorary life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Holmes-Curran-Bennett, serving as past president and treasurer. She had been a member of the Ashby Grange since 1940, serving in various offices and a member of the Executive Committee since 1973. She was a member and past treasurer of the Ashby Senior Citizens Club. Miss Damon leaves her brother, David H. Damon of Ashby; three nephews, Douglas Damon of Ashby, David P. Damon of Ashburnham, and Donald Damon of Leominster; and a niece, Lynn Clarkin of Ipswich. A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. in Aubuchon-Moorcroft Funeral Home, 132 Woodland St., Fitchburg. Burial will be private in Glenwood Cemetery, Ashby.
