Go with grass To the Editor, I see the bid for the natural field came in at $477,323, leaving $223,000 versus spending $749,100 for synthetic turf, leaving a shortfall of nearly $50,000. With the natural surface, the leftover money could be spent on fixing Overlook (Middle School)'s parking lot and roadway as was promised before the vote to hand the money over to the school. I don't see Overlook even mentioned anymore. If synthetic turf is so good why did the Patriot's recently decide to re-sod there field instead and Leominster found that grass made more fiscal sense for Doyle Field's recent makeover? It's time to do the right thing with the money, rather than try to look like Cushing! The economics of Oakmont and Cushing are not in the same league. Go with the grass and fix Overlook.
