Leonard C. Lindroth, 82
Was U.S. veteran; avid sportsman and outdoorsman

WESTMINSTER - Leonard C. Lindroth, 82, of 7 North Common Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at the Leo P. LaChance Center, after an illness.

He was born in Gardner on Oct. 24, 1923, the son of the late Carl and Agnes (Hardig) Lindroth. He was a 1942 graduate of Gardner High School.

Mr. Lindroth served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Corporal. Participating in the Normandy Invasion on Omaha Beach, Battle of the Budge, Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. A member of the 81st Fighter Group and had received six battle Stars.

He was the Senior Vice President of the former George B. Bent Company in Gardner.

Mr. Lindroth was an avid fisherman, hunter, sportsman, and outdoorsman. He was an expert cabinetmaker, and artist. He belonged to the First Congregational Church of Westminster, and the Hope Lodge of Masons in Gardner.

He leaves his wife, with whom he would have celebrated their 60th anniversary, S. Mildred (Muhonen) Lindroth; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen A. (Lindroth) and Donald Irving of Westminster; two granddaughters and one grandson-in-law, Carlen L. and Cory Goguen of Ashburnham, and Melissa A. Irving of Chicago; one step-grandson, Jason C. Irving of Boston; two step-great-grandchildren, Casey and Kira Goguen of Ashburnham; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Erhard Lindroth who died in 1993.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Westminster Rescue Fund, P.O. Box 640, Westminster, MA 01473.

The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes directed arrangements.
