Betty Bisbee, 74
Was active in Ashburnham community; loved her family

ASHBURNHAM - Betty A. (Helman) Bisbee, 74, of 27 South School St., Ashley Court, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, in UMass Memorial Healthcare, Memorial Campus, Worcester, after a brief illness.

She was born in Gardner on June 23, 1932, the daughter of the late Carl H. and Marion (Reynolds) Helman, and lived here for many years.

Many years ago, Mrs. Bisbee worked for the former Ashburnham Telephone Co., but later accepted a position as a cafeteria worker at Oakmont Regional High School in Ashburnham. In later years, she volunteered at the Ashburnham Senior Citizens Center and joined the Forever Young Club, Ashburnham.

She loved gardening and cooking and her family has fond memories of the delicious vegetables she would enjoy canning. Anyone who knew her can appreciate how much she loved her children and her family. Family meant the world to Mrs. Bisbee and to all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Bisbee is survived by three sons, Wayne S. Bisbee of Sanford, Fla., David W. Bisbee of Ashburnham, and Philip J. Bisbee of Athol; one daughter, Deborah J. Gallant of Mount Airy, Md.; one sister, June B. Moriarty of Gardner; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Her beloved husband, William J. Sonny Bisbee, Jr., died in 1994. Her son, Scott C. Bisbee of Gulfport, Fla. died in 2004. Her grandson, Shawn Bisbee of Athol, died in 1999 and her sister, Glenyss M. Carter Brooks of Winchendon, died in 2005.
