Malcolm G. Krapf, 77
He was born Dec. 27, 1928, in Fitchburg, the son of the late Albert and Helen (Mauderer) Krapf. Mr. Krapf was a Machinist for American Can for 25 years before his retirement in 1987. While there he established their Training Program. Previous to that, Mr. Krapf worked for the Norton Company. He received his certification as a Teacher of Industrial Arts from Fitchburg State College. Mr. Krapf was also co-owner of the family business, Harris Tool & Die. He was a member of the Ashby Senior Citizen Club and the Ashby Historical Society. An outdoorsman, he was a member of the Fitchburg Sportsman Club, enjoying fishing and hunting. He was known as one of the "Green Mountain Boys" and was an Eastern Mountain Muzzle Loading Champion. An accomplished skier, Mr. Krapf won a downhill skiing medal in France. He also loved and bred Springer Spaniels. Mr. Krapf leaves his wife of 55 years, Mary A. (Walsh) Krapf; two sons, Thomas Krapf of Temple, N.H., and Kenneth Krapf and his wife Ruth of Ashby; two daughters, Barbara Landry and her husband Warren of Ashby, and Helen O'Donnel and her husband Thomas of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Albert Krapf and his wife Marie of Fitchburg; eight grandchildren, Hillary Krapf, Daniel Krapf, Erika Landry, Mary O'Donnel, Tom O'Donnel, Philip O'Donnel, Beth Cormier, Ruth Ann O'Donnel; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Krapf and his sister, Genevieve Goudreau. The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Camillus de Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Ashby. Calling hours are Friday, Nov. 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fitchburg Sportsman Club, Inc., Swallow Hill, Route 119, Ashburnham, MA 01430. |
