The Oakmont varsity football team dominated Frontier Regional in a 28-0 win in the Central-Western Division III Superbowl on Saturday.

Spartan fans filled Roberts Stadium in Holyoke on a clear, crisp day to cheer their team on to the school's first Superbowl victory in 22 years.

Oakmont Senior John Griffin brought his high school career to a spectacular end by rushing for two touchdowns and catching a third.

Senior Quarterback Kyle Anderson scored the team's fourth touchdown on a quarterback sneak.

Junior Dan Marino's recovery of a fumbled punt during the third quarter was one of many Spartan takeaways that helped preserve the shutout.

Oakmont's defense held Frontier's record-holding senior running back Steve Skribiski and the rest of Frontier's offensive line at bay throughout the contest.

"They're terrific," Ashburnham-Westminster Superintendent of Schools Michael Zapantis said of the Spartans after the game. "They have a lot to be proud of. I just want to congratulate (head boach) Dave LaRoche and every player on the team."

The win comes after a 10-1 season in which Oakmont dominated on both their offensive and defensive sides.

The Spartans scored a total of 407 points this season, while giving up a mere 99.
