Cooking a success for Monty Tech

The Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School Culinary Arts department won the first place in the People's Choice Award for their lobster and roasted corn chowder, defeating restaurants, schools, and other contestants in the fourth annual Chowder Fest held at Bay Path Regional Vocational School in Charlton.

The competion was held on Sunday, Nov. 12.

Junior students, Emily Brideau of Fitchburg and Meghan Morrow of Sterling were instructed by teaching assistant Bethany Wayne.

The students competed against other vocational schools and restaurants. Senior students Matt Abare of Athol, Liz McQuade of Ashby, and sophomore students Kyote Oxford of Fitchburg and Angela Moore of Fitchburg also assisted in making the award winning chowder.
