Serious car accident blocks Route 2

Westminster firefighters responded to a single-car accident on Monday, Nov. 20, after both passengers in the vehicle were thrown from the vehicle and flown by Lifeflight to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
The driver, Steven Goguen, 21, and passenger, Leonard Maillet, 37, both of Gardner for life-threatening injuries suffered during the rollover crash near Exit 24.
Traffic was backed up on both sides of Route 2 for approximately 30 minutes while the LifeFlight crew examined and prepared the patient for transport. The helicopter landed on the highway to transport one patient, while the other was transported by ambulance to Heywood Hospital in Gardner before being LifeFlighted to UMass Medical Center.
The 1998 Honda Civic, which was traveling east on Route 2 ended shortly before noon yesterday.
The crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
