Fitchburg Savings Bank officials donated a new sign to the Townsend Police Department this month.

Police Chief Erving Marshall of the Townsend Police Department wants to extend his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Fitchburg Savings bank for their generous donation of a new sign that was placed in front of the Police/Communications Center.

The new sign replaces a 16-yearold sign that was donated by Master Wood Carver Floyd Truitt, when the building on Route 13 was constructed. The original sign had deteriorated beyond repair and Fitchburg Savings Bank officials decided to replace it as a community service project.

The new sign was constructed using materials that are weather resistant and should last for many years to come.

Marshall said because of dwindling department budgets generous donations by local businesses such as this are welcomed and truly appreciated.
