Resident wants citizens' signature on petition
      To the Editor: Chapter 40B is the Massachusetts "affordable" housing law which allows developers to override all local zoning as long as they build 25 percent of the units as "deeded affordable." Most people who live near these proposed or completed high-density developments have come to know the law quite well. Local zoning bylaws are overridden by Chapter 40B.

Community Food Pantry needs your help
      To the Editor: The Westminster Community Food Pantry was founded nine years ago to fulfill a need of supplemental food assistance to local families. The pantry is run by volunteers out of the basement of the First Congregational Church in Westminster, space which is generously donated. Over the years we have seen the number of families we service increase.

A super-sized problem

      They are calling it an obesity epidemic. A health crisis. The number of Americans who are overweight is astounding. Perhaps more alarming, the number of teens who are obese is growing faster than almost any other population segment. The reasons for this are many. Fast food, and food portions at all restaurants, are contributors.
