Salvation Army thanks volunteers, donors

To the Editor,

The Ashburnham unit of the Salvation Army wishes to extend its gratitude to all the donors and volunteer bell-ringers at the kettles during the pre-Christmas season. This year's kettle drive was highly successful, raising over $3,000. This success could not have been achieved without all you donors, and all you volunteers who gave your time!

Everywhere, public contributions to the kettles enable The Salvation Army to bring the spirit of Christmas to those who would otherwise be forgotten - to the aged and lonely, the ill, the inmates of jails and other institutions and their families, and the poor and unfortunate.

The Ashburnham Service unit of the Salvation Army can provide emergency, temporary services for any Ashburnham resident in need. If you have a need, please contact Pastor Dale Proulx at Ashburnham Community Church or Rose Lawrence at Briggs Elementary School. For more information, please call: (978) 827-5553, which is the Ashburnham Community Church, or (978) 827-5485, which is Pastor Dale Proulx's home.

The Ashburnham Community Church Resident critizes

Gov. Romney

To the Editor:

Mitt Romney wants to prevent gay marriage from continuing. People who live alternate lifestyles are not evil or monsters. I believe they actually work harder to make their relationships succeed because so much is against them in the first place.

Like Kermit the Frog said, "It's not easy being green."

I'm urging everyone to stand up for the equal rights of our gay American neighbors, friends and family members. They need our help. Let's be there for them. Contact your local government representatives and urge them to resist all efforts being made to prevent gay marriage. Everyone should be able to enjoy the benefits of being legally married to the person they are committed to and love.
