Trash company will continue to operate transfer station

WasteManagement agreed to continue to operate the transfer station in the upcoming weeks until the town can receive a permit for operation from the state.

WasteManagement agreed to this after announcing at the end of December they would be closing the transfer in the middle of January. The solid waste management company will raise their prices, though.

"We don't have control of their price because we don't have a contract with them," Paicos said.

WasteManagement will release the new prices to the transfer station customers.

If the remainder of the permitting process and issue a request for proposal from companies to operate the transfer station, then the town can have an operator in by the middle of spring.

Once the selectmen have a contract with a company, they can control the prices and the services.
