Oakmont's boys' basketball team improved to 8-1 earlier this week with three Mid- Wach C victories over Narragansett, Hudson and Murdock. In the 73-57 victory over Narragansett, Max Shenk led all scorers with a game-high 16 points, while Alex Tambling added 11. Kyle Anderson and John Griffin each poured in 10 for the Spartans.
In the game against Murdock this past Tuesday evening, a 79-47 Spartans victory, Blake Sheldon scored 14 points while Griffin had 14 points and eight rebounds. Anderson added 13 points and eight assists.
The South Ashburnham Warriors of Sparta now only need two victories in order to qualify for the Central Mass. Tournament, and their quest for the postseason begins with a road game at Route 2A archival Lunenburg (2-5) tonight before traveling to Clinton to face the 8-0 Gaels on Tuesday night.

The Oakmont girls' basketball team also had an impressive week, pulling down victories over Hudson, Narragansett and Murdock to raise its' record to 6-3 in the 2006-07 season.
In the game against Hudson, a 45-32 victory, sophomore guard Colleen Doherty set the pace for the Green and White, drilling 16 points. Tracey Letourneau scored 10 points to aid the effort, while Ali Mohnk pulled down an impressive 10 rebounds. Sally Leger also had four boards for the Spartans.
Letourneau's sharpshooting didn't end against the Hawks: in last Friday's 49-27 win over Narragansett, Letourneau led all scorers with 14 points, while Stacy Watt chipped in with 10 points. Becca Robideaux also added eight points for ORHS.
This past Tuesday night, Oakmont hosted the Blue Devils of Murdock and defeated them by a 49-37 final. Letourneau could not be stopped, as she deposited 19 points into the net.
The girls' basketball team has two games this coming week, as they'll host both Lunenburg (5-2) tonight and Clinton on Tuesday.

The Oakmont ice hockey team pulled out a 7-2 victory over Milford at the Iorio Arena last Saturday, improving to 2-3 overall. The Spartans hosted Northbridge after press time on Wednesday, and have a busy slate this week: they'll play at Murdock tomorrow afternoon, before traveling to North Star Youth Forum in Westboro to play Northbridge on Monday. They'll host Nashoba at Iorio on Wednesday night.

Oakmont's co-ed indoor track team was at Fitchburg High's Doug Grutchfield Fieldhouse to face Hudson in a meet this past Wednesday evening.

The Monty Tech boys' basketball team fell to 3-4 this past Tuesday night, dropping a 72-55 decision to Worcester Tech. Joe Flanagan had 18 points.

The Monty Tech girls' basketball team came away with a 41-25 victory over Hudson Catholic last week to improve to 3-1. Liz McQuade and Katie Haney both scored 12 points in the win, while Jenna Malo added eight.

Over at North Middlesex, the boys' basketball team fell to 3-6 after losing to Wachusett, 61-41. Ben Ingerson poured 17 points in for the hosts. Last Friday, NM defeated Algonquin, 52-49. Justin Gay paced the Patriots with 19 points while Ingerson scored 15. Nate Moore added 10 for the Patriots.

The Patriots' girls' basketball team dropped to 2-6 as they fell to Algonquin, 39-32, on Friday and Wachusett, 41-34. Against the Tomahawks, Katie Hayward scored seven points for North Middlesex, while Tracy Erickson added six. Christine Kelleher scored five points for NM.
