      CARMEL, Calif. - Col. Chester C. Sargent, U.S. Army, Ret., 84, died Sunday, Dec 24, 2006, after a brief illness. He was born on Nov. 17, 1922, in Newton, the son of the late Doug and Gladys (Hannaford) Sargent, and grew up on Army posts spending many of his early years at Fort Sill, OK.

Was U.S. veteran; well-respected pathologist
      SUFFOLK, Va. - George J. Carroll, M.D., 89, of 219 North Brooke Ave, died Monday Jan. 8, 2007, after an illness. He was born in Gardner, Mass. on Oct. 14, 1917, the son of the late George J. Carroll, Sr. and Kathryn (O'Hearn) Carroll. Dr. Carroll was a 1935 graduate of Gardner High School.

Was U.S. veteran; lifelong resident of Westminster
      WESTMINSTER - Arthur "Huck" Hakkarainen, 93, of 218 Ellis Road, and Queen Lake in Phillipston, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, in his home following a brief illness. Born in Milford, N.H. on Dec. 1, 1913, the son of Toivo V. and Olga Liimatainen Hakkarainen and was a lifelong resident.
