AWRSD to undergo Coordinated Program Review by the state Ashburnham-Westminster Regional Superintendent of Schools Michael Zapantis announces that the state Department of Education will be completing a Coordinated Program Review of some of the district's services next month. DOE staff will visit the district during the week of Feb. 12 to review the specific education programs and services. The coordinated program review will address the following programs: special education, civil rights and English Learner Education. The DOE team will review individual student records, interview administrators, teachers and parents, as well as observe classrooms. After the review the team members will prepare a report for the superintendent and school committee. In the report the district's programs will be rated using a scale ranging from commendable to not implemented. School district officials will have to propose a plan of corrective actions to bring any area found less than substantially implemented into compliance with statutes and regulations. The reviews are conducted periodically in schools across the state. Any member of the public may request to be interviewed by telephone by a member of the DOE team. Those wishing to be interviewed may call the DOE at (781) 338-3757 for the Onsite Chairperson. A member of the visiting team will contact each person desiring an interview within two weeks after the completion of the onsite visit. The Program Review Final Reports are also available on the DOE's Web site at http://www.doe.mass. edu/pqa/review/cpr/reports/. |
