Letters to the Editor
Book sale organizer plan out future events

To the Editor:

At my last book sale (Columbus Day Weekend) I sold 840 books and made $194.30 which was split equally between the Senior Center and the Forever Young Club. However I left the sale with almost as many books as I brought to the sale because of contributions just before and during the sale. The library also profited from these donations because the librarian was invited to help herself to books, which would add to her collection. Forty-six books went to the library.

Several people have asked about the date for the next sale. Taking into consideration the time needed to set up a complete sale and the unpredictable nature of winter weather, I have decided to divide the regular sale into four specialty sales. In this way the regular activities of the Senior Center will not be disrupted, the sale will not take long to set up and to pack up, and a storm would only affect one portion of the entire sale. The two activities which I am supporting this year are the William J. Bresnahan Scouting and Community Center and the food pantries. Money received from the specialty sales will be split equally between the two. Later sales will be designated for one or the other.

The sales will be at the Senior Center on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5p.m., Fridays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday mornings 9 a.m. to noon during the month of February. The sales will be. Feb. 1-3 Romance, Feb. 8-10 Mystery and True Crime, Feb. 15-17 Espionage, War, Horror and Science Fiction, and Feb. 22-24 General Fiction, Historical Fiction, Short Stories and Classics. At this point I am not planning to do Children's books but will save them for Downtown Days in June.

I will try to stick to this schedule; however, a bad storm on a Wednesday may delay the setting up of the books since I cannot start until after 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me through the donation of books and by coming to the sales to purchase books, Any donations of adult paperback fiction, any children's books, cook and craft books can be left at the Senior Center for me.
