Ashburnham Brownie Troop 243 recently held a formal investiture ceremony at which each girl received a membership star representing another year of Brownie Girl Scouts.

Members of troop 243 are Brielle Cote, Kathleen Christensen, Meg Christensen, Glenn Frank, Cassie Girourd, Courtney Jackson, Alyssa Jackson, Krisyn Money, Madeline Testa, Mackenzie Tocci, Madison Tocci, Paige Toothaker, Rachel Vargeletis, Rachel Weiderman and Arianna White.

Sue Christensen and Vivan Vargeletis are the troop leaders.

As part of their manners try-it badge the girls planned the investiture ceremony by making invitations for their families and planning a party following the event. The troop members decorated the room at John R. Briggs Elementary.

When the families arrived, the girls welcomed the guest by taking coats, passing out food and providing introductions.

The ceremony consisted of a flag ceremony, recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, the Girl Scout Promise and Laws, presentation of pins and it concluded with a medley of songs sung by the girls.

This past week, the Brownies worked on their healthy habits try-it badge. Mrs. Rose Lawrence, the nurse at John R. Briggs Elementary School, joined the girls to discuss ways they can stay healthy.

In addition, girls made Valentines to send to the servicemen and women overseas.
