Online essay contest

The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts will be holding its 8th Annual Online Student Essay Contest for Massachusetts students in grades 4-12.

The contest theme is "Making Democracy Work: Citizens' Rights and Responsibilities."

The contest hopes to encourage students and teachers to engage in discussions that help define and explain the rights and responsibilities that, we as citizens, have to keep our democracy strong and vital.

Winners will read their essay from the historic podium in Faneuil Hall. Additional information and essay questions can be found online at www. lwvma.org. The contest deadline is March 16, 2007.
