The Oakmont girls' basketball team (9-5) came away with a 32-26 victory over Hudson last Friday night. Allie Mohnk led the Spartans with 14 points while Colleen Doherty scored six points. Oakmont won this past Tuesday night with a 45-29 win over Narragansett in Ashburnham. Stacy Watt paced the Spartans with 11 points, six rebounds and four steals.

The Oakmont girls are one win away from clinching a spot in the upcoming Central Mass. Division 2 Sectional Tournament and can do so on Friday, Feb. 2 when the Spartans host Murdock.

The Monty Tech girls' basketball team came away with a 59-38 win over Hudson Catholic last Friday night. Katie Haney scored 19 points, while Liz McQuade scored 13. This past Tuesday night, Monty Tech improved to 11-2 with a 48-35 win over Keefe Tech. Haney scored 15 points, while Madeline Merchant scored 12.

The Oakmont boys' basketball team dropped a heartbreaker last Friday night, losing to Hudson, 70-65. Leading the way for the Big Green Machine (11-3) was Kyle Anderson and Blake Sheldon, each who scored 16 points. Max Shank added 14 points, while John Griffin added 11.

This past Tuesday night, Oakmont played at Narragansett in Baldwinville and were able to snap its two-game losing streak with a victory over the Warriors. Greg Beaudoin scored 16 points, while Anderson and Griffin each scored 11.

Monty Tech's boys' basketball team was on the short side of a 66-49 decision to Hudson Catholic last Friday night. Pacing the 'Dogs was Eric Diaz's 15 points. Monty Tech dropped to 5-8 overall (3-5 CAL).

North Middlesex boys' basketball team lost to Shrewsbury, 57-41, last Friday night. Kyle Capsalis led NM with 13 points, while Ben Ingerson scored 10 points. North Middlesex is 3-11.

The North Middlesex girls' basketball team lost to Shrewsbury, 59-39, last Friday night. Katie Hayward scored 15 points for the Patriots. But this past Tuesday, NM was able to win its fourth game of the season with a 41-36 victory over Wachusett. Hayward scored 10 points and had nine rebounds, while Tracy Erickson scored 10 points.

In indoor track, the Oakmont boys' and girls' teams competed in the Mid-Wach C Championships in Shrewsbury last Thursday afternoon, with the Spartan boys' team placing second overall in the team competition to Hudson. The girls' team finished fourth overall.

The Oakmont boys were able to place first in several events. Justin Sorbo took first place in the 55-meter dash (6.88), while Jeff Brighenti took the top spot in the 300-meter run (39.24). Brett Haschig won the 600-meter run (1:30.76), while Matt Dubois took first in the 55-meter hurdles (8.22). The Spartans' 1,600-meter relay team also took first place in 3:52.39.

Nathan Young took second place in the two-mile run (11:15.25), while Alex LeBlanc finished second in the 55- meter hurdles (8.35).

Oakmont also took second in the 3,200-meter relay (9:37.45).

On the girls' side, three Spartans came away with first-place finishes. Beth Kiuru came in first place in the 55-meter hurdles (9.77), while Amanda Batten took first in the high jump (4-8). Nicole Halliday also took first place in the shot put with a toss of 31-3.

Oakmont's 1,600-meter relay team took second place (4:58.48) in that event.

Congrats to Oakmont graduate Peter Normandin, who was named to the Worcester Area College Basketball Association's Men's Basketball Honor Roll this week. Normandin now attends Clark University in Worcester.
