Was a longtime resident of Townsend

TOWNSEND - Kathleen M. (Lemere) Tourigny Racine, 86, of 22 Scott Road, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer after an illness.

She was born in Barton, Vt. On Jan. 24, 1921, the daughter of Carl N. and Blanche J. (Gibson) Lemere, and resided in Shirley before moving to Townsend many years ago.

Mrs. Racine worked more than 20 years as an inspector at Conductorlab Company in Groton before her retirement in 1987. Prior to that, she had worked at Grant Plastics in Townsend.

She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Townsend and enjoyed crocheting. She was also a member of the Elvis Presley Fan Club.

Mrs. Racine is survived by three sons, Leo J. Tourigny of Groton, Kenneth F. Racine of Bristol N.H., and Herbert S. Racine Sr. of Shirley; two daughters, Patricia M. Racine of Townsend and Alida Moulton of Bristol, N.H.; a brother, Floyd Lemere of Milford, N.H.; a sister, Dorothy Haapola of Shirley; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was the wife of Leo Tourigny who died in 1961, and Francis Racine who died in 1989. She was the mother of the late Richard L. Tourigny Sr. of Lowell, Dorothy Roberts of Grants Pass, Oregon, and the sister of the late Maynard Lemere of Clinton, Rudolph Lemere of Newport, Vt., Winifred Carpenter and Irene Corkings both of Derby Line, Vt.
