Alice R. Wehmeyer, 82
Was longtime resident of Ashburnham; enjoyed music

ASHBURNHAM - Alice R. (Ducharme) Wehmeyer, 82, of 37 Williams Road, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after a long illness.

She was born in Dracut on Nov. 20, 1924, the daughter of the late Arthur and Yvonne (Plourde) Ducharme and lived in Fitchburg before moving to Ashburnham over 50 years ago.

Mrs. Wehmeyer was employed at the former Jeannette Doll Clothes Co., the former Bay State Curtain Co. and the former Fitchburg Yarn Co., all of Fitchburg.

She was a long-time communicant of St. Anne's Parish in Ashburnham and she enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, playing cards and sewing. Music was very important to Alice. Many years ago, she regularly enjoyed sing-a-longs with her friends and family and was quite a talented guitar player.

Mrs. Wehmeyer is survived by her beloved husband, William C. Wehmeyer, with whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage last October; four sons, Dennis K. Wehmeyer of Westminster, William C. Wehmeyer Jr. and his wife, Jacqueline, of Gardner, John A. Wehmeyer and his wife, Celeste, of Winchendon, and Scott R. Wehmeyer and his wife, Rachel, of Gardner; five daughters, Linda J. O'Kane and her husband, James, of Ashburnham, Dixie F. Wehmeyer and her husband, Gary Castleberry, of Pennsylvania, Debra A. Wehmeyer and her wife, Margaret Trafton, of Gardner, Diane M. Garner and her husband, Douglas, of New York, and Pamela A. Catorio and her husband, Michael, of Gardner; one sister, Janette Cote of Ashburnham; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Her daughter, Sherry C. Breau, died in 1998. She was also predeceased by one brother, Raymond Ducharme, and three sisters, Theresa Therrien, Lillian Dabney and Gertrude Richard.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lamoureux-Fletcher Community Funeral Home, Gardner.
