Police identify student making threats at Hawthorne Brook Police identified a 14-year-old male student responsible for writing a bomb threat in Hawthorne Brook Middle School on Monday, Feb. 26. Townsend police and fire have responded to the middle school for reports of bomb threats over the last three weeks. Police are still looking for those investigating the student or students responsible for the other tow incidents and have according to police already compiled a list of suspects. "We will be working closely with the schools to address these issues and formulate a comprehensive plan on how to deal with them, making sure that the school and police department are on the same page as far as how to handle these situations both internally and criminally," Police Chief Erving Marshall Jr. said in a press release. The police are discussing what types of criminal charges should be filed against the boy with the Middlesex County District Attorney. Marshall said the threats are not to be taken as a joke. "It's just threat at this point, we just want to ensure their safety," Marshall said. "There is always the potential in could become something." Marshall added that every threat needs to be taken seriously. The messages were written on the bathroom walls. On Monday, Feb. 26, the message had a specific time for the bomb to go off, which caused an evacuation of the school and a disruption of the activities a Squannacook Elementary, where the students were relocated to, according to police. Marshall said there have been a great deal of resources and manpower to address these issues. - Submitted to The Journal. |
