TOWNSEND - Birdie E. (Platte) Mailloux, 78, of 23 Brookline St, formerly of Fitchburg, died Wednesday, Feb 21, 2007, in The Highlands.

She was born on March 23, 1928, in Shandaken, N.Y., the daughter of Henry A. and Shirley (Misner) Platte. She was a graduate of Fitchburg High School.

She retired in December 2006 as manager of the Salvation Army Store in Fitchburg where she had worked for 40 years.

Mrs. Mailloux leaves five daughters: Pamela Knight of Rindge N.H., Diane Morrill of New Ipswich N.H., Penny Smith of Townsend, Darleen Bennett of Ashburnham and Robin Howe of Ashby; one son, Kim Mailloux of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine; three sisters: Gloria Rowe of West Virginia, Bessie Lindsay of Fitchburg, and Blanche Huhtala of Arizona; 23 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Henry M. Mailloux, died in 1997. She was also predeceased by a son, Gary Mailloux; a brother, James Platte; and a sister, Marion Platte.
