2nd student ID'd in bomb threats Townsend police have identified a second male student involved in a series of bomb threats at Hawthorne Brook Middle School. The 13-year-old male student was identified on March 1, shortly after three grade-wide assemblies were held with school administrators, an assistant district attorney from the Middlesex District Attorney's office and public safety personnel. The student admitted to his involvement in the threat discovered on Feb. 6, according to a police press release. This was the first in a series of three threats discovered at the middle school in February. The first student involved was identified at the end of February after making a threat, which was also written on a bathroom wall, on Feb. 26, according to police. "The information received on the first threat was not directly related to the assembly, but was part of the ongoing investigation into the other two incidents," Marshall said in a press release. He said it is not only necessary to identify the students responsible for making the threats but also to find out the motivating factor them. During the assembly, ADA Kerry Ahern spoke with students as did Fire Chief William Donahue. Donahu tried to help impress upon the students the costs associated with these calls and the negative impact public safety throughout the community. Marshall said he focused on the seriousness of the crime, telling students that they can be charged with certain adult crimes. |
