Overlook Middle School sixth grader Emma Wang was the second student in two years to win the statewide bookmark design contest.
Wang designed a bookmark depicting the theme "School Libraries: Adventures in Information." The Massachusetts School Library Association hosts the competition.
Melanie Dauphinais, another Overlook student, received honorable mention for her bookmark design in the 7-12 grade division.
Emma and Melanie were recognized at the MSLA on March 8 receiving framed certificates from the association and citations from state Sen. Stephen Brewer. The school received 500 copies of Emma's bookmark for the students as well as a set of books on extreme weather for the library.
The bookmarks were submitted to the contest by school librarian Eileen Barnacoat after she and art teacher Brian Beaudoin judged the winners in the school's competition.
