Overlook student qualifies for Massachusetts Geography Bee

Seventh grader Christopher Uminski is one of the finalists eligible to compete in the 2007 Massachusetts Geographic Bee sponsored by the National Geographic Society.

After winning Overlook's school Bee in January, Chris took a qualifying test, which was submitted to the National Geographic Society. Chris' score placed him in the top 100 of the state and he will now compete at the state level

The 2007 Massachusetts Geographic Bee will be held at Clark University in Worcester on Friday, March 30, at 8 a.m.

This is the second year Uminski has participated in the state Geography Bee. He came in second in last year's competition.

The state winner will represent Massachusetts in the national finals at the National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C., May 22-23. The state winner will receive $100 and the trip to Washington, D.C. The national winner will receive a $25,000 college scholarship.
