Westminster's first matron's police department

WESTMINSTER - June P. (Buron) Hawkins, 75 of 1 Lake Drive West, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at home after an illness.

June leaves her husband of 58 years, Leroy A. Hawkins, Sr., one son and daughter-in-law Leroy A. Jr. and Lisa Hawkins, two daughters and sons-in-law Dream and Jim Witzgall, Brenda and Mike Petalas all of Westminster, eight grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

She was born in Fitchburg on June 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Joseph and Marcelline (Brown) Buron. She was educated in Fitchburg Schools. June and Leroy were married on September 25, 1948. She was the First Matron for the Town of Westminster, and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
