Amusement Safety Poster Contest announced

All children are invited to compete for contest prizes in multiple grade levels in the form of a United States Savings Bond in the name of each winner. Selected posters will be included in the 2008 Amusement Safety Awareness Calendar produced by DPS.

Posters will be judged in three groups: Group One - first and second grades; Group Two - third and fourth grades; and Group Three - fifth and sixth grades.

The contest is designed to prompt safety discussion among families as summer outings take place to amusement parks and carnivals. Prizes include $1,000 for the overall winner, $500 for each of the first place winners in the three groups, as well as $250 for each second place winners, $100 for third place, $50 for fourth place and $25 for fifth place each by group category.

Entry forms and additional information may be obtained on-line at the DPS Web site, www. mass.gov/dps. The deadline for entry is May 11.
