Senator Robert A. Antonioni will hold office hours in Westminster on Wednesday, April 18, at 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Town Hall, 11 South St., on the main floor. Antonioni encourages any resident or interested party to attend and discuss any community, regional, or statewide issue that may concern them. Any questions regarding the Senator's office hours should be directed to his legislative aide, Tillie Ryan, at (617) 722-1230. If any resident cannot attend these office hours and would like to speak with the senator of his staff regarding any issue, please contact his Boston office at (617) 722-1230 or his Leominster district office at (978) 534-6946 to set up a personal appointment at any time. Historical Society to meet; program to be held The Westminster Historical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at 110 Main St. The meeting will feature Ann Gerard, who will speak about her impressions of Arabic women. Gerard lived in Saudi Arabia for 10 years, from 1982 to 1992, with her husband Roger. Ann was employed as the director of the Center for Education of Handicapped Children in Riyadh. She had received her PhD from Boston College and had taught graduate courses at Boston College, San Francisco State and Santa Clara. Ann and Roger Gerard returned to the United States in 1992 and settled in Westminster. They are active in the community, and enjoy sharing their insights into the culture of Saudi Arabia. This meeting is open to the public; refreshments will be served following a short business meeting and the program. Town Wide Yard Sale being planned The Westminster Historical Society is planning a Town Wide Yard Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 19. This is the way a Town Wide Yard Sale works: People who want to participate by holding a yard sale at their house on May 19 should contact the Historical Society by phone at (978) 874-5569 or by e-mail at WestminsterHist@aol.com. People will pay a fee to be listed in a map of the town. The Historical Society will advertise the Town Wide Yard Sale in all the local papers and on the cable TV stations. It will produce maps of the town with every household participating marked on the map. In addition on the back of the map will be a list all the homes and some of the choice items being sold at the homes. On the day of the Town Wide Yard Sale maps will be sold in front of the Historical Society House on Main Street, beginning at 8 a.m. so that people can map out their routes in town. New members welcomed to join "Circle of Artists" "Circle of Artists," a group of aspiring artists from Westminster and surrounding communities, meets twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the American Legion Hall/Westminster Senior Center, 127 Main St., Westminster. Members of this group explore art in a diversity of media that include watercolor, pastel, oil, colored pencil, collage and photography. They share their knowledge and skills and learn from each other and are very fortunate to have Joanna Draugsvold, Master of Art, from The Studio in Winchendon, as an instructor. Woman's Club announces scholarship applications The Westminster Woman's Club announces that scholarship applications are now available. Westminster female residents who are high school seniors or who are enrolled in dual or advanced placement programs in college are encouraged to apply for the scholarships. There are two general scholarships awarded in the amount of $300 each. Applicants may use their school's common application for scholarships, or contact Denise MacAloney, 34 Academy Hill Road, Westminster, MA 01473 to receive an application or get further information.
